Environmentalists are increasingly valuing the “green” aspects of real estate. Coffee farmers in Costa Rica, for example, benefit to the tune of $60000 annually due to the bees that live in a nearby forest which pollinate the trees. Economists and environmentalists are working on ways to create markets to help protect the environment in the long run. The Costa Rican government, for example is paying farmers to leave some land undeveloped.
