La Boquilla, a town just four miles up the coast from Cartagena, Colombia, is the site of a boom in residential and commercial construction which has taken off since 2002. As Cartagena becomes an international port of call for cruises in the Caribbean, tourist money and investment are driving up real estate prices in the walled city; ‘secret’ because it did not quite experience the violence and kidnappings that ravaged other parts of the country. Marcial Ortega, a long-time resident of La Boquilla, recently sold his half-acre beachfront property to a Spanish developer for a million dollars.Original source: Los Angeles Times.
