The Carlton Hospitality Group, a subdivision of The Carlton Group has financed billions in transactions in the Caribbean, focusing primarily on Costa Rica. Acquisition and development of luxury resorts and residences in Guanacaste and Puntarenas, Costa Rica in 2006 were $1 billion in 2006. Builders in South Florida are looking to realize financial success on real estate development in Costa Rica and other Central American countries lured by low land and labor costs. The Jack Parker Corp., for instance, plans to build an entire community on 175 acres in Costa Rica with the first phase finishing in March 2007.
